Whilst visiting Dubai recently, we frequented the world renowned Catch restaurant and I was totally blown away, not only by the stylish, rustic interior inspired by its New York origins but more importantly by the exquisite cuisine.
One of the dishes I sampled was the Tuna Poke, made from tuna, avocado, macadamia nuts and soy and it was so delicious that I had to recreate it as soon as I got back home.
This dish is an explosion of taste and texture, with the creaminess of the avocado contrasting perfectly against the crunchiness of the toasted macadamias. I then experimented with different dressing ingredients that would bring out the flavour of the raw tuna, whilst not overpowering the other elements of the dish. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Ingredients (serves 1):
100g raw diced tuna (or lightly seared depending on your preference)
1 slivered spring onion
25g sliced avocado
1 tablespoon toasted macadamia nuts
1 tablespoon of tamari
1/2 tablespoon of grated ginger
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Mix the diced tuna and spring onion in a bowl.
- Stir though the tamari, grated ginger and lime juice.
- Lastly, top with the sliced avocado, toasted macadamia nuts and sesame seeds.
