Recently I applied to become a brand ambassador of a movement which I am super passionate about and have talked a lot about on my social media- #GirlGains. Hundreds of girls from across the UK applied and it was an absolute honour to be shortlisted, let alone be one of the few that actually got selected as brand ambassadors!
Furthermore, this news could not have come at a better time, as I’m moving back to Exeter in a few months to finish my degree at University and was worried about feeling totally disconnected from the UK’s health and fitness scene, which London is the epicentre of. I am therefore thrilled to be able to spread the #GirlGains message across the UK and to be able to create events in the South West, so that more girls can be inspired and get involved in this incredible movement!
What is #GirlGains?
So the movement is something that I’ve talked a lot about on my blog and instagram account before, as I have reviewed nearly all the events I’ve been too. There is a lot more to #GirlGains than just the incredible events they organise though, which is what I thought I would explain now.
The movement and community stemmed from three incredible women; Zanna Van Dijk, Victoria Spence and Tally Rye creating the hashtag; #GirlGains. These girls met through instagram and have since become lifelong friends and their aim was to unite and inspire other women to do the same, by connecting them through the use of this hashtag. When the use of the hashtag exploded, the girls created the Girl Gains instagram account, where they share healthy recipes, workouts, personal stories, inspiring quotes and as the community continued to grow, they would advertise their events on here too.
Having been fortunate enough to attend these events, I have met so many inspirational girls and have made lifelong friends, including Emily Thompson, Becky Hays and fellow ambassadors Nadia Isabel and Becky Garves. I regularly meet up with all of these girls to try out new fitness classes in London together, attend other health and wellness events or just grab a matcha latte and have a catch up! I am so grateful for the #GirlGains community for connecting me with such lovely like-minded girls and this is one of the reasons why I can’t wait to spread the message and get other girls involved in this incredible community.
Another thing that I love about #GirlGains is the focus not just on training and nutrition, but the importance of self love, self development and body confidence. These are all topics that the girls talk a lot about on social media and also in their events, through guest speakers as well as themselves and from various workshops that they regularly run. I have become so much more positive and confident in my ability to follow my dreams because of this community and the way in which all three of it’s founders have completely changed their careers in order to do what they love. I hope to able to share this positive message to as many people as possible and to emulate the passion that these girls approach each day with.
What does the role of a #GirlGains Brand Ambassador involve?
I will be a representative, actively spreading the #GirlGains message and helping to organise events wherever I am located, whether that be in my current location of London, as well as back at University in Exeter or at home in Switzerland. I will also be contributing to the The Girl Gains Website, my first post of which will be an introduction to myself and my fitness journey, so keep your eye out for that coming soon!
Feel free to contact me if you want to know more about the movement or have any questions about the upcoming events!
