Last weekend I attended the Train or Treat #GirlGains Halloween event. I’ve been following the three beautiful women behind this hashtag; Zanna Van Dijk, Tally Rye and Victoria Spence for a while now and they continue to amaze me with how much fun each and every event that they put on is.If you don’t already know what the idea behind the #GirlGains movement is, then check out my previous blog posts about it here and here.
The day started off as usual with a sweaty workout led by Tally Rye. I honestly love the way this girl instructs her sessions. She’s so motivating and lively that you can’t help but smile, even whilst doing tuck jumps. She also kept the workout varied, combining high intensity exercises with strength based moves, which meant you really felt the burn in every area of your body.
This was followed by ample amounts of delicious food courtesy of The Good Treat. There was an incredible amount to choose from including beetroot mash with toasted cashews, feta and pomegranate as well as black quinoa, fennel, grapefruit and sweet potato with honey and mustard dressing.
Whilst enjoying the delicious food we also got to mingle with the other 70+ girls there and I saw some familiar faces including these beauties- Emily and Lauren. I still find it incredible that I have met both of these girls through instagram. Despite all the negative press lately about social media, I think events like these that came about because of a hashtag and a strong following on social media, really highlights the positive side of platforms like instagram and all the good that can actually come from it.There was then a Q&A session with Zanna, Tally and Vic and an interview with the inspirational Charlie Launder, a London based personal trainer who shared her extremely powerful story of how she overcame breast cancer whilst competing professionally in gymnastics.
The day finished off with more mingling, a pop-up photo booth, a chance to shop Sports Philosophy‘s amazing range of sportswear and a goody bag overflowing with some of my favourite healthy treats.
Overall this was without a doubt my favourite #GirlGains event so far, mainly because I got to experience it with some of my best friends. Gustava (a.k.a my twin), came all the way down from Exeter and loved the event just as much. I had another friend Nora who came from Exeter and a friend from my old school in Switzerland also attended. It was so much fun to be able to experience this amazing event surrounded by good friends and making new ones in the process.
