On Tuesday, September 15th, I had the pleasure of attending one of Deliciously Ella’s Supper Clubs with my gorgeous friend Emily. I have been a huge fan of Ella for a few years now and although I’m not gluten free or vegan, I find so much inspiration from her cookbook, and the innovative meals that she creates! My favourite recipes of hers are admittedly all the desserts, especially the Sweet Potato Brownie and Raw Banoffee Pie! She also inspired me to learn how to make sweet potato fries and to incorporate kale into more of my meals.
The event took place at Paradise by way of Kensal Green, a stunning location which provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Think low hanging chandeliers, majestic dark furnishings and flickering candlelight!
Upon arriving, Ella came over and chatted to us straight away. She is honestly so down to earth and even recognised me from when I’d met her a few months ago at a book singing. We then took our seats, received fresh coconut vitamin water and got a look at the incredible menu. All the dishes were from her second book that is coming out in January and I couldn’t think of a better promotion, as they were all so delicious!
From the three starters that we got to sample, the smokey aubergine dip with parsnip chips was by far my favourite. In fact, this was one of my favourite meals from the entire night! I usually am not the biggest fan of aubergine, so this came as a massive shock to me! I’ll definitely be trying it out at home!
We then got our main meals, for which I chose the creamy carbonara brown rice pasta. This surprised me again, as it tasted just like normal pasta but didn’t leave you with the usual uncomfortable bloated feeling that comes with it. Although I didn’t try the other main meals, they all looked amazing as well, the presentation of the food really was unbelievable.
Although I have probably never been so full in my life, of course I had to make room for dessert. And not just one dessert, but two! We devoured the spiced pear and apple crumble and then I managed a few bites of the chocolate ganache cake as well. The ganache cake was my second favourite meal from the night! It was incredibly rich and indulgent, and was covered in a velvety chocolate sauce, whose ingredients my table and I then spent the next ten minutes contemplating!
I had the most amazing evening thanks to the incredible food, beautiful venue and the lovely company. I made so many new friends and left the event filled with inspiration and new ideas to try out in the kitchen!
I would highly recommend attending one of these supper clubs if you’re ever in London and want to sample delicious, healthy food whilst connecting with the other like-minded people. You can find out about events this like on deliciouslyella’s blog, but they are extremely popular so I recommend signing up to her newsletter so that you’re notified as soon as tickets are released!
